Error Message: "Return code: 1605, State: Failure" when trying to uninstall / reinstall a Remote Console LDMS

Environment:

 

LDMS - All Versions

 

Description:

 

On the managed device, when you try to uninstall or reinstall the Remote Console LDMS, you get an error message at the uninstallation process as shown below;

And you look at the installation logs and you see the following error message in it;

Solutions:

 

1- Windows XP:

 

a- On the Start menu, click Run.

b- Type: regedit and press Enter

c- On the tree, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

d- Look through the directory for a folder that looks like Installshield_{GUID} and check if some keys refers to landesk in it, it means you are on the right folder

e- Right-click this folder, then click Delete. Now close out of your registry.

 

2- Windows 7:


a- On the Start menu, click in the Search field.

b- Type regedit and press Enter

c- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

d- Delete the folder as previously described.

 

NOTE for all 64 Bit Versions: The Installshield folder is located at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
